About Me

I was born in London to Turkish Cypriot parents and lived in England until 2006, when I moved to North Cyprus. While growing up I liked to compare the two different cultures I was exposed to (Turkish Cypriot and British) and this interest extended to a desire to study foreign languages and to discover new cultures. I studied French and Italian at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, and specialised in French language and literature by studying at Bordeaux University in France. I also know German. After university I worked as an editorial assistant in the book publishing sector, and then for a company that organised the translation of books from different languages into English. Before moving to Cyprus I gained the CELTA teaching qualification and taught English to students of different nationalities at Bell language school. Other previous teaching experience includes teaching French to English students and teaching English to French students!
