WHAT TO CONTRIBUTE:

LOVE and KINDNESS

After that...
Backpacks or a bag that zips closed
filled with toys, books, school supplies.
If you don't have a bag, but do have loose items, we will accept them and put them in other bags. If you have bags but no items to fill them with, those are welcome also.

Remember, bags are needed for children of all ages. We especially need packs for youth ages middle school to high school. Choose an age: bags may contain items for children and youth ages 0-18. Just label your bag so we know.

Find gently used things in your home, this is a kid to kid effort!
Items don't have to be fancy. Just put in things that would make a child or youth happy.

Below are suggestions on what to pack for kids and babies. Also at the bottom of the page is the supply list from the Houston Independent School District if you need ideas on school supplies.

Items listed in the "What to Pack" list are suggestions, you don't have to stick to this list.

Only items listed in the "What NOT to Pack" list will be removed during processing if included, for safety reasons.

Please note that we ask you do not include money or gift cards. Organizations receiving backpacks said equity is very important, and not all bags are going to have money. We also don't want to provide an incentive for theft. If money or gift cards are in back packs, they will be taken out and used to buy supplies for the backpacks or processing of the bags.

There are also a lot of displaced teachers due to Hurricane Katrina. If you would like to donate supplies for the teachers to set up new classrooms, please go to the Needs For School Teachers page.
