The Jokers recorded their first league win of the season yesterday, beating last year's champions The Leopards 3-2. Pete Gamson opened the scoring early on, with the Leopards getting an equalizer after a Carroll-like keeping error saw stand-in keeper Vere fumble the ball straight to one of their forwards. Fortunately Wilby scored twice to give us a 3-1 lead at half-time (and give himself some breathing space in the Golden Boot competition).

In the second half Jokers played into a strong headwind and ceded a lot of possession. Leopards got a goal back midway through the half, but thereafter Jokers had more chances to go 4-2 up than Leopards had to equalize, being restricted to a long-range shot and a late goalmouth scramble.

This was a great team performance, which should put the Jokers in touch with the teams outside the drop zone.
