How to set up your own blog using blogger
- go to blogger
- create a new blog
- your "display name" should be your actual name so we can reference your work
- be sure to keep your username, email that you use and password in a safe place.
- think about what you would like to title your blog "Blog Title" can be anything
- for the URL please put your first and second inital, your last name and then the class catalog number and then the quarter and year (e.g. MP520, Fall 05. For example, Charles E. Fuller would be http://cefullermp520f05.blogspot.com).
- choose your own template
- once you select start posting go to the "settings tab" and "basic" fill out a description for your page. Be creative here, and think of something unique you hope to bring to our class discussions.
- Select under the settings tab "comments" and allow "anyone" to publish comments on your blog. This way we know that even classmates who don't have a blogger account can comment on your site.
- Next select under the settings tab "archiving" switch the frequency to no archiving (check this) this is important for us to keep all the weeks and posts organized.
- As you warm up to the idea of blogging your first post should include (1) a brief intro to yourself, how long you have been at Fuller, where you are from, church background - those kinds of things and (2) tell us what you hope to discover in this class. Publish that post.
- Click on the tab "view blog" to see that it posted correctly. if it did copy the URL in the address bar and email your address to the TA.
- Finally: click on "back to dashboard" in the upper right corner and on the following page you will find the option to "edit your profile" you need to do this as completely as possible. another important part of this is that you put up a picture if you can - you may need to get a free picture server such as flickr to host your pictures before you can post them on blogger but if you can manage the photo would be very helpful for us in learning names.
