The MIT Engineering and Science Libraries B-Team

Research, education and infrastructure development at MIT increasingly involve efforts with a primary or significant biology component. The scope of this activity is large and growing. The changes at MIT reflect an ongoing transformation in science and engineering research and education. New information resources and tools that intersect with the Libraries’ mission and activities are part of this transformation. The Engineering and Science Libraries need to re-examine their role in supporting MIT’s changing focus, and experiment with new approaches for supporting this interdisciplinary community. The B-Team will investigate the information needs of the MIT Community, and make recommendations concerning the libraries’ role in meeting their needs with an emphasis on the role of ESL. The group will experiment with developing a collaborative and distributed support model.
