These lists were built by librarians, educators, parents, and readers of all ages. To add titles and your comments, simply log in at left: it's free, fast, & safe. Understand the scope notes and supply as much information as you want on the titles you add or wish to comment on, such as age/reading level, publishers, and your thumbnail reviews or personal experiences with the books.

It's also helpful to include purchase information and editorial reviews. Most of the titles here are linked to the site of a gargantuan online bookstore simply because it does such a good job of furnishing this kind of data. That's not to be interpreted as an endorsement; if you'd rather buy from local independent booksellers, BookSense.com can help you find them.
Every book its reader. Assigning age levels to books is an imprecise endeavor at best. This list's English-language titles are grouped according to four rough age/grade levels corresponding to the four leftmost links below. Your mileage my vary.
Scope: With few exceptions, the books in the English-language portion of this list involve war or its consequences. Much as we love many of the great children's books that address topics such as bullying and conflict resolution, this list is shaped around themes of war as waged by nations and other large violent groups.
The most frequent exceptions are found among books for very young readers. Such books often deal with war through metaphors and parables; there are many titles for this age group that, though not explicitly about war, seem entirely consonant with the thrust of this list.
Many excellent bibliographies take a less strictly focused approach. Their interpretations of peace themes make room for positive messages of friendship, cooperation, and personal conflict resolution. Links to such lists are here on the Other book lists page.
