The movie I am reviewing is What Dreams May Come. This film is one of my all time favorites because of its wonderful portrayal of the strength of love and its representation of the life beyond. The movie employs such actors as Robin Williams, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Annabella Sciorra. The movie begins with an average family going through not so unusual problems. The Son and daughter are rebellious but well behaved and the family with very little dysfunction. One morning when the nanny is taking the kids to school there is a car accident killing both children. After the accident the husband and wife return to as close to normal as one could be after such tragedy until one night on his way home from work Dr. Nielson is also involved in a fatal highway accident. This is where the story begins. After the accident, he tries to remain close to his mortal wife. Cuba Gooding Jr. is his spiritual guide through the afterlife, and tries to get his used to his new surroundings in heaven. The plot goes on with Dr. Nielson confused with what has happen and his search for his children who are in heaven also. Until one day overwhelmed with the way her life has been destroyed, Mrs. Nielson takes her own life. She is then banished to eternal damnation. Mr. Nielson decides to rescue her from hell, but no one has ever successfully rescued a dammed soul. With the help of his friends in heaven, he sets out on a most harrowing journey to save his soul mate. I could never do this movie justice no matter what I write, it is a definite must see the plot twist and the director’s vision of heaven and hell is astounding. This is a must see.
