Sleep Deprivation
What if you had your own bed in studio - would you use it?
too tired to find this webpage! [Cerrissa Kulpa?]
As my daddy says, "ya can't soar with the eagles if you're hootin with the owls." [Richard Taylor?]
Sleep deprivation is definately an issue within our community. Does switching the Firstand Second Year? studio times from afternoon to morning help or hinder? [Wes Ayers?]
That is a very lofty question Wes . I feel more inclined to pull "all-nighters" when studio is in the morning. If we had 1:00pm studio's, LIke we did last year, Come twelve o'clock in the evening, I would find it easier to justify going home. I could just wake up in the morning, and get to my desk. It is almost imposible for me to sleep now knowing class is only a few hours away. It all comes down to time management, but lets face it, some of us use the anxiety of procrastinating as a generator of productivity. I found first year studio to be a bit more demanding than second year, yet I have pulled three all nighters this year compared to last year where i had none. I think that its due entirely to the 9:00 schedule. [Richard Taylor?]
You think we have it bad, think about the Cleaning Crew at Dudley. These are the folks that are really up all night.....
Doesn't partying on the weekends do something to your health? How can you get Monday's assignment done on Sunday if you are hung over from Friday and Saturday? [Katie Simpson?] Yes it does do something to your health. It makes you healthier. Being happy is great for killing germs if used properly. Anyway how are you going to get your work done if youre at the church of satan all day Sunday?
Morning studios are not easy to get up to come to, however, once your done you have the rest of the day to work on your project which cuts away from long hours at night.
I don't think as many people get happy all weekend long and put projects off until Sunday as Katie thinks. I think she is stereotyping.
I do not think everyone has that problem, I am just advertising that if you procrastinate, do not whine to me. [Katie Simpson?]
Oh come on Katie, who really doesn't procrastinate sometimes. And just because some folks get in a little rush does mean that they bang the booz all weekend. Some people work, but you wouldn't know about that because you "don't have any thing better to do." (morning studio reference). If you are that perfect child that works in studio every minute you aren't in class then that is great but don't get offended when you are addressed about an attack that you made. Go be perfect somewhere else!
We know who stays up all night, and it is often the happy people but what about the people who are inspired? I think there is combination between happy and inspiration that keep people in the studios all hours of the night. -
Wes Ayers__it all depends on the person__i myself have never had the early morning studio so i can't relate to that, but i have noticed through the years that everyone's studio ethics are varied__i am a night owl and have spent countless all-nighters, but some people i never see because they leave early in the afternoon and get there very early in the morning__so it is all about personal responsibility of time management__i agree that i am probably the worst procrastinator in the whole thesis class, but when it comes down to the line, i usually crap out more than i expected to__ and about the happy thing, i say live it up now while you can, but be responsible__being that i am about to graduate and enter the real world, it hit me that i am going to have to grow up__there will be no more of this "happy" thing for me__also, take appreciation in your classmates__when you graduate you probably won't see 95% of these people again__now is the time to have a good time with them__anyways, sorry for rambling Devine?
