Although Sublime no longer exists they are still very inspirational. Sublime is of the punk rock/ raggae genre, a.k.a. ska. The band consisted of one singer, a bassist, two guitars, drums, a disc jockey, &  occasionally brass horns. The band originated from Long Beach, CA. Bradley Knowels, the lead singer, had a drug problem & over dosed, then died. A very tragic event in the music industry. The band was just getting popular when the good lord took him away. Sublime specialized in covers of inspirational songs. These covers aren't the typical copy covers where the band tries to sound exactly like the original artist. Sublime took classic, memorable songs & incorporated their own, original styles to make the song even better. After the death of Bradley Knowels the remaining members of the group formed another band called "Long Beach Dud Allstars." The new band is still heavily influenced by raggae, but instead of being mixed with punk, it is crossed with rap.

Sublime is a great band that even though it no longer exists people are still enjoying the melodies that it creates.  Brad Nowell, the lead singer, died in 1996 of a heroin over dose.  In a lot of the songs he sings about his struggle with drugs and how he knows he will not be able to defeat them.  His songs talk alot about real life problems and how he faces them.  It is sad to see him singing about his own death and defeat before his time even came.  However that may be, Sublime was very inspirational and truthful.  The lyrics are different and represent various stages of Brad Nowell's life.  All of the songs have lots of rythem and melody to them.  The songs remind you of the beach lifestyle.  Sublime is a band truthful to themselves and they provide alot of insite to their hardships in life.  Sublime creates a style of music like no other and rather combindes all different styles into one.  Alex Chuplis
