Wikipirate, according to Prosports magazine,  Nascar attracts more people than football, and you have a nascar track right around your corner. Does Nascar make a tour of europe?
God I just dont get Nascar, its way way over my head.
Chevy does sponsor team Honda in supercross though,  I think supercross is almost as cool as motocross.  Richard
oh, I bet that You think that Harley Davidsons are cool?

Phil you are a loser.  Your weak statement was all you could think of to add to the sports page?  Thank you for wasting our time, we are aware of the tournament, most of us do have ESPN.  Soccer is a decent sport but so is AMERICAN FOOTBALL, which you failed to mention.  The competitiveness level we purse and uphold regarding football (on all levels: high school, college, and pro) is one Europe has not embraced.  Having played both sports, I can say that football is tougher both mentally and physically.   There is a season right around the corner, a lot of energy being put into next season right now.  You’re at Auburn, if you want to get pumped about sports, get into Auburn football, we are going to have a great team this year.

I cannot believe this trend to cojunctify the hoardent masoplestene masses!

Richard, I have to say it because everyone is thinking it.  Motorcycles are cool, fum to ride, but Motocross sucks.

I wasnt aware that "America" was a sport as implied by your statement.
Motocross is an international sport dominated by mostly europeans. It is also, according to unreferenced sources, and with exception to triatholon/marathons, the second most strenuous sport next to soccer.
I think thats a load of crap myself. But I still think that all golf courses were ment to be motocross tracks!
Richard

We should step outside of the mundane American sports world and look at Euro 04.  It's a soccer tournament going on right now.  Soccer has the passion and broad range of competition that America will never have.  The great pasttime of baseball is nowhere close to the tradition and intense fan support of soccer overseas.  Phil Amthor

ummm, baseball doesn't have a cap dumbass. That's the whole reason the yankees, braves, cubs, and bosox can go out a pay players WAY more than they're worth. duh.

the yankees cheat, just like they do every year by getting the whole damn free agent market.  i know that they will put up ten runs a game, but i would love to see them fail miserably.  anyway, why aren't the braves doing anything?  they have all this freed up cap room and all they pick up is j.d. drew.  give me a break, they need to bring back Sid Bream if they want a chance at the series.

How about the Yankees being so evil and conniving in their baseball deals. First A-Rod, and I'm hearing that they want Maddox too! How can baseball allow for them to not have a salary cap, and Selig just was so quick to agree to their trade, and just do everything but guarantee them a ring, if this Maddox signing works. Sorry to change the subject, I guess I'm just venting too!

"Auburn Sports." Funny - add that one to the list of all-time greatest oxymorons. Vent away.

I'm just wondering if anybody still looks at this page, cause I need to vent some shit about some Auburn sports?.---January 25

Is Rusty really intereseted in American sports? I heard him talking about Cricket a couple of times. He mentioned something about his wife being a Cubs fanatic.

If we run the table, we are definately in for a BCS Bowl game, perhaps a rematch with USC?  It doesn't help that every top ten team we beat falls out of the top ten the next week- Arkansas- Tennessee?  I will probably be the only person flipping channels during the game- praying for an Auburn win and a Yankees loss.  I want to see Steinbrenner's face when Aaron Boone lets a rally busting ground ball fly between his legs.  I think the National League and "small ball" teams prove that baseball is not entirely fake.   There are a few bumps in the program- Giambi and Sosa perhaps.  Christian Dagg

Of course I would love to say the tigers have a shot at the national title, but I don't think it is going to happen, our bumpy season start may have shut that door. Not to dampen AU spirits though, obviously, we have a great chance at the SEC title, and a will probably get in a good bowl game, but first we have to get through baton rouge and athens.  (Jon Penney)

This page is not dead. It struggles on like the hope of a cynical Bo Sox
fan.
Since CD and Penney are the only one posting to this page{?clearing throat...I just posted my excitement about RC's Defeat just yesterday Oct 23, 2003... see below. I'll post on top next time}?, I pose this question to them: Do you think that the Auburn Tigers still have a chance to play in the National Title game? With all of the 'powerhouses' turning losses like a Tijiuana hooker turning tricks (maybe not thatbad, but close) we may have a shot. If Auburn is able to run the table, finish with at what may be three quality wins (LSU and GA) we may have a repeat of Colorado two years ago. They were a two loss team that just missed going to the title game by less than one percentage point in the BCS standings. Interesting proposition or die-hard fan's
daydream?
As for the other American Past-time: boring. The last time I was this bored with a major
sporting event was the Tiger-less Masters. (I'm generally bored with golf anyhow, but its fun to wait for Tiger to self-destruct or yell at the fans. Remember the cell phone incident? That was classic. I digress.) Baseball fucked up good with this World Series. Their efforts to push the CUBS to the playoffs obvioulsy weren't good enough. If Sosa's head hat size grows 3 times in the course of one season, don't you think that something might be going on? And nevermind the corked bat fiasco. The best thing for this
completely self-indulgent league would have been a Bo Sox/Cubs Series. Two teams who have fans that actually believe in them (Why? only God knows) playing for the championship would have generated tons of genuine interest. If I were Selig, I would suspended Rivera, called Fan Interference on that Jackass with the headphones and made it happen. Its not like the game is pure anymore, anyhow. Read above about Sosa, and look into the steriods case that has supeanoed Giambi and Bonds. The only thing more fake that baseball is the
WWE.

Carnell is on fire, the run is unstopable, how can you give the SEC player of the week title to anyone but the cadillac? can't wait to see him roll over LSU.  It will be interesting to see how the LSU defense handles carnell, they haven't allolwed more than 100 rushing yards in any game this season, but I think the cadillac is going to crush that statistic, since he is averaging 150+ yds a game.  If the defense can shut down Matt Mauck's passing game, the AU tigers will come out on top, no problem.     (jon penney)

This page was a huge bust-  I find it amazing that their are only three sports fans in the entire building.  Two of my most amazing "architectural" moments happened in beautiful sporting venues.  The game, the building, the climate all together made for an amazing experience.  Oh well... somehow people around here feel being cultured and loving sports don't go hand in hand.  Very sad... particularly for all of you lamenting the fact you spend too much time in Dudley.

How about Game 7 between the Soxs and the Yanks?  How about the snoozefest called the World Series? Wow how can you call that a snoozefest!  Is it because the two deserving teams didn't make it, I don't think thats the case because all teams had a fair shot or is it because a team that hasn't won the world series in so long disappointed everyone again and weren't good enough to go all the way, or was it because this series showed that a team can't always buy themselves a Championship.  That sometimes it takes heart to win one not only skill, that the under dog a win it all even when most of the nation is hating on them for not losing.  Just because your team didn't make it don't hate on the others.

How about Cadillac being the SEC player of the week 3 weeks in a row?  Should Grady Little hire armed body guards? -Christian Dagg

I don't know if anyone around here even cares about sports but I thought I would put this page here and see if anyone else likes to talk about sports.

First topic has to be the tigers football team that I think we can safaley say is back. Knock Wood. I really think they are playing well now. Hopefully they keep getting better because they road tests at LSU and Athens will definitley be tougher than the one this weekend to Arkansas.Anyways lets try to get this page going.

I think Pedro Martinez is a dope. He is a little bitch who isn't anything without a baseball in his hand. I mean, throwing down a 70 something year old is rediculous. I know Zimmer charged him but there is more to that story that we don't know. His best weapon is his intimidation. Just like Clemens, they both use the fact that they will hit someone against them. I don't like that style of play. You can pitch inside without throwing at someones head, or at least these guys can.

Why is noone signing this page?  Even radio talk show callers give out their names.
Yes, tiger football is important to discuss, but at the moment nothing is better than playoff baseball.  Thank goodness Florida has decided to show up for the NLCS, and we shall see about Boston New York.  The age old argument, is that if American League pitchers had to bat, none of them would throw at batters intentionally.
As a cradle Red Sox fan- what Pedro did was shocking- about as shocking as Clemens throwing the broken bat at Piazza in the subway series.  Even harder remembering that Zim used to be manager for the soxs... But this is as tense a baseball series as you will ever see.  The Yankees are a group of pre-retirees praying they can win one World Series before they leave the game, and the Sox will put up a much harder fight than either the Cubs or the Marlins.
Let's not forget Garcia and Nelson may get arrested for beating on that field worker before this series is over.  They are far more despicable than Pedro and Zimmer.  Particulary Garcia, moving in on a restrained man so he can get in one shot.  Christian Dagg
