For anyone getting mysteriously booted fromthe wireless network who is running on XP and also uses the built-in Microsoft wireless connection manager (as opposed to Intel or other)... click here and print.
Three Easy Steps (the first things ISAT would do)
.jpg)
- Check that the computer's wireless capacity is enabled
-
Is there a switch on the computer that needs to be turned on?
-
Is the computer's wireless switched on with a function key + number key with beacon icon (Fn-F2 on our Loaner Dell Dimension D505's)?
-
Does a wireless card need to be connected for the computer to have wireless capacity?
- When in doubt: Reboot
- Have the Patron to submit a Help Desk Request Ticket, or submit one yourself so the Help Desk knows we have a problem. Click for more wiki information on Help Desk.

For questions coming to the desk related to the wireless changes the first thing you need to find out is what their relationship is to Antioch (Student/Alumn, Staff, or Guest):
-
If you don't know the person asking for the code, please don't hand it out without verifying the following:
- For students/alumni: Ask for an ID card or check for them in First Class to make sure they have an account.
- For staff: Look them up on the AUNE website in the employee directory or check for them in First Class.
- For guests: Right now guests are people who are officially affiliated with AUNE, such as vendors, Board of Trustees, guest speakers, etc. Guests are NOT general public. Anyone affiliated with us who would like guest access needs to go see IT across the street - we can send them over or direct them to email if it's after hours. Another resource would be Sandra Peace-Carey (from the Registrar's Office) who is the point person for outside events hosted at Antioch.
- Alumni are allowed access on the student wireless code.
- We have the student and staff wireless codes stashed in "codes and passwords" which is you know where.
Users may have to change the encryption level from the default 128 to 64 to enter the code.
