Research Questions
Cary and Jean are available for reference/research help. Desk staff are not responsible for giving research assistance beyond directing Patrons to a librarian or to the library’s website. Cary works with students and faculty in the Applied Psychology, Education, and Organization & Management departments. Jean works with the Environmental Studies and Clinical Psychology departments.
If a Patron needs research assistance,* find out which program he/she is in and get Cary or Jean. If a librarian is not available, have the Patron go to Ask a Librarian on the website and send an email request for assistance. Also direct the Patron to Research Tips and Research Guides by Subject on the library website under Help. Please do not try to tell Patrons which databases to use, how to use databases, or give other research help. The librarians are qualified to do this and want to make contact with Patrons to make sure they get the appropriate help AND follow-up.
* How do you know when to get Jean or Cary? If a Patron says any of the following:
-
“I need to find articles on….”
-
“I need information on…”
-
“I can’t find material on….”
-
“What database do I use for...”
-
“I’m in Horace and I can’t find articles on…”
-
“I have to have three articles on….”
- “I’m in PsycINFO (or other database) and I can’t find…”
