Internet and FirstClass

When using a Mac computer, internet access is best reached by using the "Firefox" program. Access to Firefox can be found on the menu bar (located on the side or bottom of the screen). Also note that access to FirstClass is found on this same bar.

Basic Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble with one of the Macs, they are easy to restart. To restart a Mac access the pull down menu by clicking on the apple at the top left of the screen, then select "restart".

Look here:

If your Mac has frozen completely, do a force quit procedure. With three fingers of one hand hold down the control, option, and apple (the one with the apple icon) button all at the same time. They are located in the lower left corner of the keyboard. While holding those three buttons down also hold the escape button on the upper left of the keyboard. (see picture below)

A window will open with a list of the applications that were in use when the computer froze up. Highlight one and click on Force Quit  in the lower right. That application will be shut down. Continue to highlight and force quit the other applications if needed. Open up the application you need - it should work now.

In an absolute emergency you can shut down the Mac by holding the shut off button.

Ejecting a CD from the CD drive

Another "fun" eccentricity of the Mac, is the fact that a cd eject key is located on the keyboard. You can find it at the top right corner of the number pad. Check it out:
