Holds and Callslips
Holds: For books that are checked out to other patrons (this puts you in line to be the next person to check it out).
Callslips: For books on our shelves that are available (this is for people who aren't on campus but want to make sure the book is there when they get here).
Assisting Patrons:
1. Navigate to the Horace page on our website.
2. Locate the circulation item.
3. Once you have determined whether the item is available, choose either a hold or a call slip to request the item.
4. You will be asked to either enter your barcode/lastname or Antioch ID/lastname. I suggest choosing the Antioch ID from the drop down menu and logging in.
FRONT DESK STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES:
***Remember to "CHARGE" books when patron comes to pick up any HOLD/CALL SLIP book
HOLDS:
- When item comes back and we "discharge" it, a pop-up will appear saying the item is on hold.
- Simultaneousley, the printer will kick out a more information sheet with the patron's name.
- Next, take this sheet and couple it with the book on hold.
- E-mail the patron, telling them their "Hold" item is ready (use the "sample notices" folder on desktop)
- Place book with sheet on Hold pick-up shelf.
CALL SLIPS:
There is and icon for "Call Slip" on the desktop: ![]()

If there are no current requests, the gray area will be blank. In the above picture, there is one request.
INSTRUCTIONS:
• Go to File and print the request(s).
• Fold in printed sheet in half the long way with the patron's name sticking out of book.
• Locate the book on shelf.
• Hit the Process button. In the Circulation FirstClass account, email the patron for notification.
• You will take this piece of paper and stamp it with a 7 day stamp. (When that day comes and goes and the patron never picked it up, we'll know we can return it to our shelves).
-Fold the paper in half and place in the book.

-Place the book on the hold shelf.
