JOURNALS: A Little Different
New journals arriving in the mail go to Cathy (except for The Chronicle and The Christian Science Monitor which can go directly to display after being stickered and stamped). Journals found in the baskets on the new books shelves need to have the table of contents scanned and emailed to the library circulation account (see TOC Scanning). Once this has been checked for clarity, the table of contents is then emailed to Cary and Jean. Next, the journals need to be stamped, stickered and shelved. If you find them in the basket labeled "Magazine Rack", they go in the new displays by the sofas; if they are in the basket labeled "Stacks" they go to the stacks. Also see: Journals on Display.
DVD Processing
All new DVD's will have gone through Cathy and Cary for entry into the system and cataloging.
Take the new, barcoded and call numbered DVD and give it:
- A DVD skin (located on the shelf behind card catalog) - Currently being phased out, ask before using.
- An Antioch doughnut hole sticker
- A "7 day loan/ $1.00.day late fee" stuck to the graphics beneath the transparent sleeve on the box
Filing the DVD:
- Find an unused pocket in the DVD storage case
- Use the label maker to create a call number label for the pocket (use the "small" print setting)
- File the new DVD in the DVD File in the AV Room (Audio Shelf)
- Discharge the empty DVD case and place it on the cart to be shelved
