Lost Books
Procedure if a patron reports that a book is not on the shelf, or says they returned a book for which they are being fined:
Check the shelf with the patron. Make sure the book was not misshelved and is nearby
- Check the carts to see if the book is about to be re-shelved
- If you find their books and it was our mistake to fine them: apologize and forgive all fines
- If you can''t find the books: write down book title, author, and patron's first and last name
- Email information about the book and patron to Cary Jardine
Procedure if a book is returned and Voyager reports it as lost:
- Discharge book. Make sure book is discharged from the patron's account.
- Find patron's name who returned book and remove "lost item" status (click on patron while discharging to removed the fees).
- Excuse all Replacement and Processing fees from patron's record (not Overdue fees)-Paying Fines
- Return book to Fine & Fees Guru to follow up. They may have been in communication with the patron.
