Lost Books

 


Procedure if a patron reports that a book is not on the shelf, or says they returned a book for which they are being fined: 

 Check the shelf with the patron. Make sure the book was not misshelved and is nearby

  1. Check the carts to see if the book is about to be re-shelved
  2. If you find their books and it was our mistake to fine them: apologize and forgive all fines
  3. If you can''t find the books: write down book title, author, and patron's first and last name
  4. Email information about the book and patron to Cary Jardine


Procedure if a book is returned and Voyager reports it as lost:

  1. Discharge book.  Make sure book is discharged from the patron's account.
  2. Find patron's name who returned book and remove "lost item" status (click on patron while discharging to removed the fees).
  3. Excuse all Replacement and Processing fees from patron's record (not Overdue fees)-Paying Fines
  4. Return book to Fine & Fees Guru to follow up. They may have been in communication with the patron.
