Turning the unit on:
Holding the recorder with the screen facing you, the power switch is located along the left side of the unit. Slide the power switch upwards to the “on” position as shown:


To record, you will need a formatted SD card. The library provides a formatted 512m SD card (in the unit) that will be sufficient for recording approximately 2.5 hours of audio with the unit set at MP3 320kbps recording. For recording at higher quality settings, consult the following chart to determine your SD memory needs:

1) Start at the main menu page by hitting the menu button:

2) Use the >>I key to advance to the “REC MODE” screen. Hit the • (Record Button) with “Rec Mode” selected, as shown:

3) Use the I<< and >>I buttons to scroll through the various MP3/WAV recording settings:

Hit the •button with the desired setting selected, as indicated by the arrow. The unit will then update/change the setting and automatically return to the MENU screen.
Setting the Input/Recording Sensitivity:
Holding the recorder with the screen facing you, the “Mic Gain” switch is located along the right side of the unit:

Slide the switch up or down to select the desired setting.
• Use the H, or “High” gain setting to record sounds that are at a distance from the unit or are relatively quiet.
• Use the M, or “Medium” setting for recording an acoustic guitar or other sounds that have relatively low volume yet are close to the recorder.
• Use the L, or “Low” setting to record sounds from sources that are loud or close to the unit.
To Record:
1) Press the MENU button to advance the unit to the counter/record screen:

2) Press the • button once to set the unit to recording mode – the PLAY/REC indicator light below the screen will blink when the unit is ready to record.
3) Pressing the • button a second and third time will start and then stop the recording process.
Playback:
1) From the counter/record screen, press the play/pause button and recordings will playback in the order that they were created.

2) Select individual recordings by pressing the MENU button, select FILE, then scroll to the desired recording you wish to review:

3) Press the • button to select the desired file. The unit will then load the selected recorded file.
4) To play the file, press the play/pause button.
Deleting Files:
1) Access and select individual files using the same process described in steps 2 and 3 under “Playback” directions.
2) Delete individual recordings by pressing the • button to select the file,
3) Scroll to the “DELETE” option using the >> I button,
4) Select “DELETE” by pressing the • button, then delete the file by selecting “YES” using the I<< button.
Loading Files to Your Computer:
1) With the H2’s power off, connect the supplied USB adapter to the H2 unit and insert the USB connector into an available port on your computer, as shown:

2) Once the USB is connected, the H2 screen will appear as follows:

3) Press the REC button to select “STORAGE” and the following screen will appear on the H2:

4) Access audio files as you would access files using a flashdrive or other USB device.
